The good circumstances in recent years have resulted in a spectacular rise in new workers entering the construction industry. Almost 15,500 new workers joined the industry in 2004, or four times more than in the mid-1990s.
Up to 2008, all trades will continue to have a high need for workers. The industry will have growing replacement needs due to increased ageing and high turnover of workers. On an annual basis, about 15% of workers stop working in construction at least temporarily (retirement, change of industry, creation of a business, etc.), while 9% return. In net terms, the recruitment needs of the construction industry are at 6%, which means the integration of 8,000 new workers per year, strictly to meet replacement needs.
