CMHC Study on Rental Housing

CMHC Study on Rental Housing

As owners and managers of rental properties you will potentially be invited to participate in the study on rental housing which the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) conducts twice a year, i.e. in October and April, as part of its mandate from the National Housing Act.

I would like to reiterate to you that your contribution is essential so that you and your business partners can have access to reliable data on our industry. For those who are unfamiliar with this investigation, the information gathered in this way will allow you to check afterwards, for free, detailed information on your local market, and more broadly on the national and provincial market. You can therefore:

• Check if your rents are in the standard applied in your region;
• Have an indication of the level of availability and vacancy;
• Compare the situation in your area with the one observed elsewhere in Quebec or in other
provinces.

You can also consult from now on their previous publications related to this study on the website of the CMHC - Housing Market.

Moreover, the CMHC takes it to heart to ensure you that all information obtained will be published only in aggregate form or in datasets made anonymous to protect the confidentiality of individual information on vacancy rates, availability and rents.
