Consumer prices have decreased in August all throughout Canada except in Quebec

During the 12 month period that ended in August of 2009, consumer prices have decreased by 0,8 % in Canada, after a decrease of 0,9 % in July. Quebec, together with Saskatchewan, has been the only province to see its consumer prices increase.

In Quebec, inflation hovered around 0,4 % on an annual base last month. The figures have been provided by Statistics Canada.

The organism stipulates that the decrease in prices in the country has been especially attributed to a fall over 12 months of 19,1 % of energy product prices, especially gasoline. Without energy, we would have known a 1,4 % inflation from August 2008 to August 2009 in Canada.
