It is in Laval and on the North Shore of Montreal that one finds the highest vacancy rates in dwellings with one hundred units and more, as it was at 8,4 % in October of 2008. In comparison, the rate for all of the dwellings (3 apartments and more) was at 1,8 %, this always for the same region.

One notices however that, even if it is still very high, that dwellings with 50 to 99 units, had a vacancy rate of 4,4 % in the Laval/North Shore sector.

On the South Shore of Montreal, 2,3 % of the apartments are vacant in dwellings of 50 to 99 units; and 3,5 % in dwellings of 100 units and more (according to the CMHC October 2008 poll).

Finally, in the Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) of Montreal, one has registered a vacancy rate of 4,0 % in dwellings of 50 to 99 units; and 3,0 % in dwellings of 100 units and more.
