Landlords: don’t forget to give the T4 slips to your tenants

Landlords: don’t forget to give the T4 slips to your tenants

In Québec, all landlords of one or more rental units must fill out and give each of his/her tenant a T4 slip for income tax purposes. The document must be produced for each of the units rented in whole or in part for accommodation purposes as at December 31, 2008.

The T4 slips must be given to the tenant who lived in the unit on December 31, 2008 at the latest on the last day of February.

The landlord must also send to Revenu Québec, within the same deadline, the summary form as well as copies of his tenants T4 slips, and a copy of the 2008 tax account for the building.
