Sunday will now have to be quiet in Granby: no construction work will be allowed anymore

The City of Granby has decided to act to prohibit the excess of noise caused by construction work on Sunday, following complaints by citizens. This modification to general regulations on the level of the period of restrictions concerning noise generated by loud work has been adopted by the town council on August 24th and has been put into force since August 29, 2009.

The regulation will make it possible to prohibit any excessive noise on Sunday, and this measure aims especially at construction activities. Mayor Richard Goulet had already mentioned that his council wanted to give at least one day of quietness to its citizens.

One wanted thus to put an end to construction from morning until dusk, seven days per week. The municipal council believes that the citizens are entitled to quietness, peace, well-being, at least one day in the week, Sunday.

It should be said however that warnings and fines could be imposed on the recalcitrant ones, only if there are complaints submitted by a neighbour.
