Congratulations to the winners of the Le perfectionnement, j’y crois ! province-wide contest

The very first edition of the Le perfectionnement, j’y crois ! contest was a huge success. The contest was organized by the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ), in partnership with the Fonds de formation de l’industrie de la construction (FFIC) and the Plan de formation des travailleurs du secteur résidentiel as part of the 4th Semaine québécoise des adultes en formation. The participation rate surpassed all expectations with more than 1,150 entries from around the province. The contest was launched on February 20, and people had up to March 20 to enter.
“The goal of the Le perfectionnement, j’y crois ! contest was to encourage people in the construction industry to share their experiences with skill upgrading,” noted Chantal Dubeau, director of vocational training at the CCQ. “We were pleasantly surprised not only by the high number of participants, but also by the exceptionally high quality of the statements we received. The choice was therefore very difficult – sometimes agonizing – for the selection committee, Given these more than encouraging results, we are looking forward to repeating the experience with a second edition of the contest in 2007.”

The Le perfectionnement, j’y crois ! contest had four categories of participants:

1. Worker
2. Construction employer
3. Teacher or trainer
4. Administrator of a training centre

The winners received their prizes on Thursday, April 6, at an event organized in their honour at the École des métiers de la construction de Montréal.

The first-prize winners each received $2,000 and a commemorative trophy, while the second-prize winners received $500 and a commemorative trophy. The winners will be featured in an advertorial that will be published on Wednesday, April 12, in the Journal de Montréal and the Journal de Québec.
